La última que se aventaron estos tipos vestidos con la playera americanista fue la derrota en Lima. Enfrente había un equipo limitado, que no proponía casi nada y que en condiciones normales no hubiera representado mayor dificultad. Así, con nada, la Universidad de San Martín cumplió con lo mismo que realizan últimamente todos los rivales del América, ganar sin siquiera emplearse a fondo.
Romano no tiene nada claro, hay jugadores que con su juego simplemente hacen insostenible su propia titularidad y al técnico parece no pasarle por la cabeza la idea de mandarlos a la banca. Por ningún lado vimos un sistema que se haya, o se esté trabajando. No hay por ningún lado un jugador que con algunos gestos o acciones intente inyectar de ánimo a los desanimados, ni un entrenador mentalmente preparado para soportar toda la tierra que le está cayendo a la casi terminada tumba americanista. En la banca vemos más cigarros que indicaciones, más improvisación que trabajo, más temor que determinación, y más dudas que hombres calentando.
La situación en el grupo se complica, en teoría la calificación está en propias manos, pero en el campo la realidad nos dice que el equipo está destinado a quedar eliminado por primera vez en la fase de grupos de la Copa Libertadores.
